[origin: EP0331026A2] The invention discloses a method for making a heat exchanger unit, in which at least one portion of a collecting pipe (1) is produced and simultaneously firmly and fluid-tightly connected to ends of pre-positioned profile tubes (4) of a heat exchanger matrix (3) by pouring a molten metallic material into a cavity (9) formed between a central mould core (7') and an outer shell; the outer shell to be used here is a perforated sheet (15), by means of which the profile tubes (4) are pre-positioned and centred at the ends projecting into the cavity (9) and the surface of which is melted into the material of the collecting pipe during the casting operation.
