Abstract (en)
The device comprises an illuminator (12-14) and an optical system (16) to create an optical image of the card web (1) on an array of photosensors (17). Provided the sensor area is sufficiently small, neps create a typical time-course in the illumination intensity, which can be utilised to detect them. The neps are not removed, but their frequency provides indications of possible deficiencies of the carding machine or of the upstream fibre-opening machines. <IMAGE>

Die Vorrichtung erzeugt mittels einer Beleuchtungseinrichtung (12-14) und einer Optik (16) vom Kardenvlies (1) eine optische Abbildung auf einem Array von Fotosensoren (17). Bei genügend kleiner Sensorfläche ist der durch Nissen verursachte zeitliche Verlauf der Beleuchtungsintensität für diese chrakteristisch und dient zu ihrer Erkennung. Die Nissen werden nicht entfernt, ihre Häufigkeit gibt jedoch Hinweise auf mögliche Mängel an der Karde oder den vorgeschalteten Maschinen zur Faserauflösung.
