[origin: EP0331627A1] The installation for the periodical charging and discharging of a gas-storage device has a gas circuit (1) in which a compressor (2) and a heat exchanger (3) are arranged. A line (4) for supplying gas to be stored and for carrying away stored gas to a consumer is attached to the gas circuit (1). The gas is stored as gas at low temperature and increased pressure or as liquid gas at approximately ambient pressure. <??>The heat exchanger (3) arranged in the gas circuit (1) is operated as a cooler or a heater depending on whether gas is to be stored or discharged. The liquid heating or cooling medium flowing through the heat exchanger (3) is either cooled in a refrigerating machine (10) or heated in a heating device (11). <??>Depending on requirement, a gas, e.g. natural gas, can be prepared in one and the same installation for the charging of a storage device or for the discharging of this storage device. <IMAGE>
