The invention indicates on the one hand a method for actuating a heating apparatus, in particular a vehicle additional heating apparatus, in which combustion air and fuel are supplied to a burner, and a flame is produced in a combustion chamber. In this connection, the air ratio, which is significant for the stability of the combustion operation and the harmful substance content emitted, is determined on the basis of the flame temperature measured in the combustion chamber. With a desired value for the air ratio predetermined, regulation is then preferably carried out to the effect that the quantity of combustion air and/or fuel supplied is changed in such a manner that a predetermined desired value for the air ratio and a corresponding desired value for the flame temperature are achieved. Also indicated is a heating apparatus which has in the flame region of the combustion chamber a flame temperature detection device which is associated with a device for determining the air ratio. As temperature detection device, use can be made of a spatially integrating sensor, such as a resistance thermometer, or a locally active sensor such as a thermocouple. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung gibt einerseits ein Verfahren zum Betreiben eines Heizgeräts, insbesondere Fahrzeugzusatzheizgeräts an, bei dem einem Brenner Brennluft und Brennstoff zugeführt werden, und in einer Brennkammer eine Flamme erzeugt wird. Hierbei wird das Luftverhältnis, das maßgebend für die Stabilität des Brennbetriebs und den ausgestoßenen Schadstoffanteil ist, auf der Basis der in der Brennkammer gemessenen Flammtemperatur ermittelt. Unter Vorgabe eines Soll-Wertes für das Luftverhältnis wird dann vorzugsweise eine Regelung dahingehend vorgenommen, daß die Brennluft- und/oder Brennstoffzufuhrmenge derart verändert wird, daß ein vorbestimmter Soll-Wert für das Luftverhältnis und ein entsprechender Soll-Wert für die Flammtemperatur erreicht wird. Ferner wird auch ein Heizgerät angegeben, das im Flammbereich der Brennkammer eine Flammtemperaturerfassungseinrichtung hat, die mit einer Einrichtung zur Ermittlung des Luftverhältnisses verbunden ist. Als Temperaturerfassungseinrichtung kann ein räumlich integrierender Sensor, wie ein Widerstandsthermometer, oder ein punktuell wirkender Sensor, wie ein Thermoelement, verwendet werden.
