[origin: EP0332096A2] A support member (14, 15) is provided on the table leg (13) of the table (10) below the table top (11). Said support member can be swivelled about the vertical axis of the table leg (13). When the support member (14, 15) has been swivelled out, it can serve as a support for a table top (21); it is constructed correspondingly. The table top (21) has on its underside an elongate engagement member (24) which, in the connection, engages positively in a corresponding elongate recess (23) of the support member (14, 15). A table connection, thus formed, is very stable and allows the table arrangement, thus formed, to be displaced virtually like a rigid unit. It is also possible for a single person to couple a table (10) to an adjacent table top (21) using this connecting device without additional aid. <IMAGE>
