A monitoring device for safeguarding automatic machines actuable by means of code carriers, especially automatic cash dispensers, contains a video camera (12) which can be activated when the automatic machine (10) is actuated and which records and stores an image of a viewing field (14) in which the user must be located when the automatic machine (10) is being actuated. A sensor (16) responds to the presence of objects in a barrier zone which embraces a region (18) adjacent to the video camera (12). The automatic machine (10) is blocked when the sensor (16) responds. <IMAGE>

Eine Überwachungsvorrichtung zum Sichern von Automaten, die durch Codeträger betätigbar sind, insbesondere von Geldautomaten, enthält eine Videokamera (12), die bei Betätigung des Automaten (10) aktivierbar ist und ein Bild eines Gesichtsfeldes (14) aufnimmt und speichert, in welchem sich der Benutzer bei einer Betätigung des Automaten (10) befinden muß. Ein Sensor (16) spricht auf die Anwesenheit von Gegenständen in einer Sperrzone an, welche einen an die Videokamera (12) anschließenden Bereich (18) umfaßt. Der Automat (10) wird bei Ansprechen des Sensors (16) gesperrt.
