[origin: EP0332569A1] The invention relates to an arc heating device for ladles or ladle furnaces for the treatment and refining of iron melts, in particular steel melts, having three electrodes, which can be lowered through the cover, each of which is held by a holder and can be connected via power leads in each case to one phase of the three-phase mains of a furnace transformer. In order structurally to simplify an arc heating device of this generic type, and to minimise the inductances and the reactance asymmetry by design measures, it is proposed that the holders (8) of each electrode (91-93) be arranged on a common supporting arm (1) and the common supporting arm (1) be mounted on a guide column (2), and that the power leads (5-7) to the electrodes (9) be arranged in a triangular arrangement on the supporting arm (1) and be guided parallel thereto. <IMAGE>
