[origin: WO8803882A1] A ladder comprising a frame (2) pivotable between a folded-up and a folded-down position and connected to step members (3) via hinges (9) which, when the frame is folded up, allow the step members to lie in the plane of the frame and which, when the frame is folded-down, allow the step members to pivot to an active postion in which they extend substantially at right angles to the frame. Each step member (3) has its centre of gravity outside an imaginary plane extending through the associated hinges (9) and parallel to the plane of the frame (2). This causes the step members to be automatically and without external action unfolded to the position in which they extend at right angles from the frame, at the latest when the frame has reached its folded down, pendent position.

Une échelle comprend un bâti (2) pivotable entre une position repliée vers le haut et une position repliée vers le bas, et relié à des barreaux (3) via des articulations (9) qui, lorsque le bâti est replié vers le haut, permettent aux barreaux de se trouver dans le plan du bâti et qui, lorsque le bâti est replié vers le bas, permettent aux barreaux de pivoter vers une position active dans laquelle ils s'étendent pratiquement à angles droits par rapport audit bâti. Le centre de gravité de chaque barreau (3) est situé à l'extérieur d'un plan imaginaire s'étendant à travers les articulations (9) associées et parallèle au plan du bâti (2). Cela oblige les barreaux à se déplier automatiquement et sans action externe jusqu'à la position dans laquelle ils s'étendent à angles droits par rapport au bâti, au plus tard lorsque ledit bâti a atteint sa position pendante repliée vers le bas.
