The invention relates to both a method and a tool for crimping terminals on electrical leads. The object of the invention is to centre the lead ends before they are inserted into the crimping pliers and no longer to insert the lead ends axially into the crimping pliers. According to the invention, the lead end is inserted, located above the crimping pliers, into the tool, is centred by two jaws, between which it is trapped, and is then placed between the two limbs of the crimping pliers. In terms of the tools, this is achieved in that there are arranged on the base of the tool two jaws which are spread apart by spring force and are initially driven together by the ram and trap the lead between them. The part of the ram supporting the jaws is then also driven down and the lead trapped by the jaws is placed into the crimping pliers. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft sowohl ein Verfahren als auch ein Werkzeug zum Ancrimpen von Kontaktteilen an elektrische Leitungen. Die Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, die in die Crimpkrallen einzuführenden Leitungsenden vorher zu zentrieren und die Leitungsenden nicht mehr axial in die Crimpkrallen einzuführen. Erfindungsgemäß wird das Leitungsende oberhalb der Crimpkrallen liegend in das Werkzeug eingeführt, von zwei Backen zentriert und zwischen diesen eingefangen, dann zwischen die beiden Schenkel der Crimpkrallen eingelegt. Dieses wird werkzeugtechnisch dadurch gelöst, daß an dem Werkzeuggrundkörper zwei durch Federkraft auseinandergespreizte Backen angeordnet sind, die von dem Stößel zunächst zusammengefahren werden und die Leitung zwischen sich einfangen. Dann wird auch das die Backen tragende Teil von dem Stößel heruntergefahren und die von den Backen eingefangene Leitung in die Crimpkralle eingelegt.
