[origin: EP0332859A2] The ski has a device to enhance safety, which is fixed to the upper side of the ski between the tip and the binding. The device (8) has a semi-shell-shaped body with a closed-surface shell wall (22), which widens from a tip (16) to an open end surface (18), and is fixed to the upper side (2) of the ski (4) in such a way that the lower edge (26) of the body rests on the upper side (2) of the ski (4) at least virtually without a gap. In the region of its open end surface (18), the body at least partially overlaps the parts of the ski binding which are at the front in the travelling direction of the ski. By means of the device, due to the large extent of covering of edges of the ski binding which tend to cause injuries, the risk of injury is considerably reduced and, moreover, the ski is given an attractive appearance. <IMAGE>
