Abstract (en)
The water closet has a drainage port in a position higher than the floor. During a flushing operation, an air vent space is partitioned by a water wall formed by a water flux dropping from a dam and by an increase of the water level in a reservoir. The air in a trap is pushed out speedily toward the drainage port, due to the rapid flow of water to make vacuous the interior of a trap's drainage passage, and make it ready to start a siphoning action. When the feeding of water from a tank has been completed, so that the continuous siphoning action approaches the end, a notch is formed in the water wall. This notch permits the air to enter the air vent space immediately.

Cabinet à chasse d'eau présentant un orifice de décharge placé plus haut que le sol. Pendant la chasse d'eau, un espace d'évent d'air est divisé par une paroi d'eau formée par l'écoulement d'eau tombant d'une digue suite à une augmentation du niveau d'eau dans un réservoir, et l'air dans un siphon est expulsé rapidement vers l'orifice de décharge par l'écoulement rapide de l'eau de manière à créer une dépression à l'intérieur d'un passage de décharge du siphon pour produire un effet de siphon. A la fin de l'écoulement d'eau du réservoir, lorsque l'effet continu de siphon touche à sa fin, il se forme une entaille dans la paroi d'eau qui permet à l'air de pénétrer immédiatement dans l'espace d'évent d'air. Grâce à l'agencement ci-décrit, l'entrée de l'air dans l'espace d'évent d'air se produit plus tôt et l'effet de siphon se termine rapidement.
