[origin: EP0333910A1] A drum-filling device with a balance which monitors the filling weight and a suction extractor which is arranged, in the filling position, in the region of the bunghole and engages around the filling tube with its suction orifice is characterised in that the suction extractor is arranged, in the filling position of the device, in such a way that the rim of the suction orifice lies a short distance above the surface of the drum, in that the suction extractor is held by a lifting apparatus which is controlled by a sensor determining the vertical distance of the suction extractor above the surface of the drum, and in that the lifting apparatus is designed to be controlled in such a way that, when lowered onto the drum, it first travels downwards with the drum until it touches the suction extractor or the filling tube and then travels upwards until the sensor indicates the correct height. <IMAGE>
