In an air jet weaving machine, the weft yarn insertion device is formed of one or more main nozzles which introduce the weft thread into the warp shed via a weft insertion channel and the weft thread is carried within the warp shed over a multiplicity of side-by-side and mutually spaced-apart relay nozzles to the capture side. On the capture side a clamper holds the weft thread during the process of interlacing. To ensure uniform cloth density at the weft insertion side and at the capture side, there is provided a stretching device which, in the weft direction, is arranged ahead of the clamper and which stretches and hence tensions the clamper-held weft thread by forming a weft thread loop.

Bei einer Luftdüsenwebmaschine wird die Schußfadeneintragsvorrichtung aus einer oder mehreren Hauptdüsen gebildet, die den Schußfaden über einen Schußeintragskanal in das Webfach eintragen und der Schußfaden im Webfach über eine Vielzahl nebeneinander angeordneter und einen gegenseitigen Abstand aufweisender Staffettendüsen zur Fangseite getragen wird. An der Fangseite ist eine Klemmeinrichtung angeordnet, die den Schußfaden während des Abbindevorgangs klemmend festhält. Um eine gleichmässig dichte Warenqualität an der Schußeintragsseite und an der Fangseite zu gewährleisten, ist eine Streckvorrichtung vorgesehen, die in Schußrichtung vor der Klemmeinrichtung angeordnet ist und welche den in der Klemmeinrichtung festgelegten Schußfaden unter Bildung einer Schußfadenschlaufe streckt und damit spannt.
