In order to achieve and maintain traceability as to which party made a copy (1a, 1b) of a data carrier (1), an identification (5a, 5b) is provided, distributed over a region (3) of the data carrier (1) for useful information, specifically for each recipient (A, B). By close coupling of the identification (5a, 5b) with the useful information distributed to all recipients (A, B) identically, it is achieved that the identification (5a, 5b) remains interpretable, even in the case of repeated copying, at least as long as the useful information applied to the region (3) of the carrier (1). <IMAGE>

Um zu erreichen, dass von einer Kopie (1a, 1b) eines Datenträgers (1) eruierbar wird und bleibt, welches die kopierende Instanz war, wird auf einem Bereich (3) des Datenträgers (1) für Nutzinformation verteilt eine Identifikation (5a, 5b) vorgesehen, und zwar für jeden Empfänger (A, B) spezifisch. Durch enge Kopplung von Identifikation (5a, 5b) mit der an alle Empfänger (A, B) identisch verteilten Nutzinformation wird erreicht, dass auch bei wiederholtem Kopieren die Identifikation (5a, 5b) mindestens ebenso lange interpretierbar bleibt, wie die aus dem Bereich (3) des Trägers (1) aufgebrachte Nutzinformation.
