[origin: WO8804970A1] A circular saw head (1) for cutting lateral boards (3) from a log (2) has a saw blade (4) mounted on a saw shaft (10) by a bearing flange (5). Within a crown of saw teeth (13) of the circular saw blade (4), radially spaced from the saw teeth (13), is arranged a frontal annular bearing surface (12) that axially projects beyond the front face (8) of the saw blade (4) and lies on the plane of the frontal outer edges (14) of the saw teeth (13). The bearing surface (12) supports the wood surface sawn by the saw teeth (13), thus guiding the wood.
