[origin: EP0337147A2] A radiant heating element (11) is provided for a glass-ceramic cooking plate (12), which element (11) has in its central region (34) conventional resistor heating elements (20) which are mounted on an insulating body (14). A bright radiator (25) runs around in the edge region and consists of an open molybdenum disilicide wire which is laid in a meandering manner and is mounted on a separate, mechanically firmer insulating part (24). In the case of a modified embodiment, the separate insulating part carrying the bright radiator (25) can be constructed as one piece with the edge (18). <IMAGE>
