[origin: EP0337850A1] This apparatus for handling receptacles basically comprises a frame (1) supporting grasping means consisting of holding plates (6) provided with lugs (9) and carried by a system of rods (B) which are capable of extending in a substantially horizontal plane to enable the lugs (9) to engage, from the inside of a receptacle, in the opposite walls (7) of this receptacle in order to seize it, and are capable of retracting in this horizontal plane in order to release the lugs (9) from the walls (7) and thus free the receptacle. This apparatus is of application to the handling of rectangular containers in which the distance between opposite walls may be highly variable from one container to another. <IMAGE>
