[origin: EP0338484A2] A device for emptying a liquid accumulator (2) of water-carrying domestic appliances comprises a centrifugal pump (3) with a pump housing (4) enclosing an overmounted pump wheel (6), which housing has an axial intake pipe (7) and a radial pressure pipe (9), of which, as necessary, the intake pipe (7) is connected to the liquid accumulator (2) and the pressure pipe (9) serves to drain the liquid delivered by the centrifugal pump (3), in each case by means of a hose section (8 or 10) fiited to them. In order, by very simple means, to effectively prevent the occurrence on such a device of unwanted gurgling noises from the centrifugal pump (3) and attendant motor noises, it is proposed that a return conduit (11) of smaller cross-section from the area of the pressure pipe (9) or from a hose section (10) fitted to this and serving for drainage of the delivered liquid, and/or from the annular pressure area of the pump wheel (6), should empty into the area of the intake pipe (7) or into a hose section (8) fitted to it and connectable to the liquid accumulator (2). <IMAGE>
