[origin: WO8908513A1] Preforms for manufacturing casting moulds, for example patterns, in particular their core boxes, used for precision investment casting, require expensive maintenance and refinishing. The moulding material, usually sand, is abrasive, and hence the preforms must undergo frequent and costly refinishing. To prolong the service life, the surface regions, which are subjected to high wear or which must possess high dimensional stability, are made of a more abrasion-resistant material than the basic material of the preform (1).

Formteile zur Herstellung von Formen für Gießereizwecke, wie Modelle, insbesondere deren Kernkästen, verlangen für die Herstellung einen hohen Wartungs- und Nacharbeitungsaufwand, wenn sie für den Präzisionsguß eingesetzt werden sollen. Der Formstoff, in der Regel Sand, ist abrasiv, so daß Formteile häufig und mit hohem Kostenaufwand nachgearbeitet werden müssen. Um höhere Standzeiten zu erzielen, werden die Oberflächenbereiche, die einem hohen Verschleiß unterliegen oder an die hohe Anforderungen hinsichtlich der Maßhaltigkeit gestellt werden, aus einem Material höherem Verschleißwiderstand als das Grundmaterial des Formteils (1) hergestellt.
