Drive mechanism for turning a furler/unfurler support, especially a furler/unfurler tube for a sail. This device comprises a transmission shaft (7) comprising an upper end having means (8) for mounting the support, a manual control member (9, 10, 11) designed to be operated manually, a hydraulic motor (13) comprising a drive shaft (15) having an upper end of a shape adapted to house the lower end of the transmission shaft (7), a clutch device controlled by means of a pressurised fluid and equipped with a clutch member (27) able to move along the transmission shaft (7) and so designed as to couple, on the one hand, said shaft and said drive shaft (15) when the clutch device is under the pressure of the fluid and, on the other hand, the transmission shaft (7) and the manual control member (9, 10, 11) in the absence of fluid, and feed means designed to deliver fluid to the hydraulic motor (13) and the clutch device simultaneously. <IMAGE>
