Abstract (en)
The invention relates to a pump installation which can be used in particular in liquid chromatography. In such pump installations a continuous volume flow of the eluent is also necessary on the intake side for the low pressure gradient formation. The object of the invention is to find a simple, economic and universally applicable solution which enables interference-free low pressure gradients to be obtained with single-piston pumps. This object is fulfilled according to the invention in that an additional displacement piston from the intake side of the pump is moved in a cylinder resulting in a continuous, even intake flow. During the intake pause this displacement piston draws in 50% of the set delivery quantity and in the intake phase of the working piston expels this quantity back out. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Pumpenvorrichtung, die sich besonders in der Flüssigkeits-Chromatographie einsetzen läßt. Bei derartigen Pumpenvorrichtungen ist auch auf der Ansaugseite ein kontinuierlicher Volumenstrom des Eluenten für die Niederdruck-Gradientenbildung erforderlich. Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, eine einfache, wirtschaftliche und universell anwendbare Lösung zu finden, die es gestattet, mit Einfachkolbenpumpen interferenzfreie Niederdruckgradienten zu erreichen. Diese Aufgabe wird erfindungsgemäß dadurch gelöst, daß ein zusätzlicher Verdrängerkolben von der Ansaugseite der Pumpe so in einem Zylinder bewegt wird, daß ein kontinuierlicher, gleichmäßiger Ansaugstrom die Folge ist. Während der Ansaugpause saugt dieser Verdrängerkolben 50% der eingestellten Fördermenge an und stößt diese Menge in der Ansaugphase des Arbeitskolbens wieder aus.
