Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0340434A2] In a known fan delivery consisting of a plurality of paddle wheel discs which are spaced axially from one another, there are fixedly arranged in the interspaces braking tongues which partially narrow the gap formed by every two neighbouring paddles for the purpose of receiving a folded article and thereby brake the folded article. The braking takes place very abruptly. An adjustment facility for the braking tongue is not disclosed. <??>The braking tongue has an outer contour which in axial projection forms an angle of intersection with the inner side of a paddle which passes by in rotation, at least in the inlet region of a folded article, this angle continuously increasing upon further rotation. Thus, on its path in the paddle wheel, the folded article is continuously slowed down to a residual speed. Moreover, the braking tongue can be displaced as a function of the thickness of the article and the machine speed. <??>Folding apparatus for printing machines. <IMAGE>
