A device which is suitable for carrying out this method comprises a heat exchanger (8) fed via a water supply pipe (9), and a gas burner (1) which is assigned to this heat exchanger (8) and to which combustion air is supplied via a combustion air guide (2) by means of a blower (3, 4) and fuel gas is supplied via a gas nozzle (5).
