[origin: EP0340680A2] The display stand, for sales or advertising purposes, for example, has a front and a rear surface and two side surfaces and it can be collapsed into a transport position. After folding the side surfaces into the plane of the front and rear surfaces, the lower parts of the latter can be folded upwards, together with the adjacent lower parts of the side surfaces, until they rest on the upper surface parts. For unfolding, the display stand only needs to be lifted up so that the side parts drop down and, in doing so, the display stand automatically assumes its unfolded state. The unfolding can be assisted by elastic elements which are braced between the individual parts of the display stand in such a way that they pull these parts into the unfolded position (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
