Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0340747A2] In this method, a defined temperature zone is produced and spatially delimited immediately prior to the deformation zone where the strand-shaped stock, such as wire, tube, strip, bar or section is deformed. To produce this temperature zone, part of the quantity of heat arising during deformation and fed back counter to the direction of motion of the stock is used. Simultaneously with the formation of the temperature zone, a reaction space with a temperature higher than the ambient temperature is produced and a temperature range set such that the coating material applied to the stock becomes plastic or liquid in the reaction space and passes through the deformation zone in this state. The device comprises one or more elements (6, 8, 10), such as flat or curved plates, screens, nets or tubes, which are arranged in such a way in front of the deformation device (2, 3, 4) that they have no direct contact with the strand-shaped stock (1) and are connected to the following deformation device (2, 3, 4) via heat conductors (5).
