[origin: WO8905155A1] A monoclonal antibody that immunoreacts with ECr, the RGD-directed adhesion receptor found on the surface of both endothelial and melanoma cells, is disclosed. Methods whereby that monoclonal antibody can be used to inhibit the ability of cells that contain the adhesion receptor to adhere to a subendothelial matrix composed of vitronectin, fibrinogen or von Willebrand factor are also disclosed. Further disclosed are diagnostic systems and methods for assaying for ECr in a body sample using the antibody of the invention.

La présente invention décrit un anticorps monoclonal qui entre en immunoréaction avec l'ECr, qui est le récepteur d'adhésion dirigé sur la séquence RGD, récepteur qu'on trouve sur la surface de cellules de l'endothélium et du mélanome. Des procédés grâce auxquels cet anticorps monoclonal peut être utilisé pour inhiber le pouvoir de cellules contenant ce récepteur d'adhésion d'adhérer à une matrice subendothéliale composée de vitronectine de fibrogène ou du facteur von Willebrand sont également décrits. Des systèmes et des procédés diagnostiques servant à détecter par analyses la présence d'ECr dans un échantillon corporel au moyen de l'anticorps de la présente invention sont également décrits.
