Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0341423A1] The bucket wheel-like drum (12) has an alternating arrangement of pocket-shaped compartments (14) and saddle-shaped supports (46) mounted around a common axis of rotation. A carriage guided in the rail (44), having a base (86) and at least one clip (54), is provided in each compartment (14). By displacing the rail section (56), the particular clip (54) can be controlled independently of the movement of the carriage. During gathering and inserting, printed sheets (34) are introduced at a first feeding station into the compartments (14). These printed sheets (34) are seized by the particular clips (54) during the course of the rotation of the drum (12) in arrow direction (U) and are transported to the next feeding station, where further printed sheets (34) are introduced into the compartments (14). In the course of further rotations, the printed sheets (34) which are gathered or inserted in this way are transported to a removal station. During collecting, the printed sheets (34) are deposited astride the supports (46), so that each printed sheet (34) is held along the supports (46) at each of its printed-sheet halves, each of which reaches into a compartment (14), by one clip (54) for transport during the rotations in arrow direction (U). <IMAGE>
