[origin: EP0341472A2] A description is given of an ultramicroelectrode comprising a wire or a fibre made of noble metal or carbon with an insulating layer on it, the insulating layer consisting of a crosslinked poly-4-oxyphenylene, poly-4-thiophenylene or poly-4-aniline. Such ultramicroelectrodes can be used as disc-shaped, cylindrical, bipolar or screened electrodes and are suitable for use as excitation electrodes, amperometric or potentiometric microsensors or as electrodes for performing analytical measurements, for example for inverse voltametry.
