Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0342420A2] When the frames of the wings (3, 4, 5) of a sliding folding element (2), for example a sliding folding door, are produced from plastic sections or from thin aluminium sections, these are sensitive to distortion even when they are equipped with reinforcement, because the latter cannot extend right into the frame corner. To ensure that the load on the second wing (4) and further wings during the opening of the first wing is reduced to a minimum, the second wing (4) can open only when the first wing (3) is opened at approximately 180 DEG and retained on the second wing (4) by means of a first locking device (17). Released particularly via the first wing (1) is a second locking device (18), by means of which the second wing (4) is fixed relative to a stationary frame (1). By means of a third locking device (19), the folded-together position of the first and second wings can be secured additionally in the initial opening movement of the second wing (4). <IMAGE>
