[origin: EP0343309A1] The wire twisting device has a twisted bar (1) with a binding hook (4) which is set in rotation when a gripping part is pulled. The binding hook can be swivelled about an axis (5) and is held in the normal position by a locking slide (7) engaging in indentations (6) in the binding hook. When pulling the wire loop around the binding hook, a latch (13) is lifted, by which means the locking slide and thus the binding hook are unlocked and swivelled, by which means it can slide out of the wire loop. <??>A device of this type allows a constant and optimum twisting of the wire without the risk of it tearing and permits the automatic pulling out of the binding hook in the same pulling movement. <??>The formed wire for tying reinforced iron bars is constructed as a single wire hoop (17) with a welding point (23). By this means, on the one hand its manufacture is simplified and material is saved and, on the other hand, a firm tying is guaranteed. <IMAGE>
