[origin: EP0343425A2] Such an ink ribbon (5, 5') consists of .......LINE MISSING IN ORIGINAL........................... with an elastic and wear-resistant film strip as a carrier layer (10, 10') to which thermoplastic printing ink (8) has been applied. The regenerability of the ink ribbon is to be improved in order to reduce the printing costs for the consumable material. For this purpose, a network structure (11 or 12) in which the printing ink (8) is embedded is arranged on the ink layer side of the carrier layer. Such an ink ribbon is suitable for printing normal papers in high-throughput thermal transfer printers. <IMAGE>
