Alkyl or alkenyl polyethylene glycol ethers of general formula (I): R1-O-(CH2CH2O)n-R2 in which R1 is a straight-chain or branched alkyl and/or alkenyl residue with 8 to 18 C atoms, R2 is an alkyl residue with 8 to 14 C atoms, and n is a number from 20 to 40, are used as low froth or anti-froth tenside components in aqueous rinsing agents and detergents, in particular clear rinsing agents for domestic and industrial dishwashing, with a particularly high wetting effect on solid plastics. Also described are tenside mixtures based on compounds of general formula (I) in admixture with other non-ionic alkyl or alkenyl polyethylene glycol ethers of formulae (II) to (IV) containing components B-1 to B-3, and low-froth rinsing agents and/or detergents containing these tensides or tenside mixtures, and a process for producing them.

Alkyl- bzw. Alkenyl-Polyethylenglykolethern der allgemeinen Formel (I) R1-O-(CH2CH2O)n-R2 (I) in der R1, einen geradkettigen oder verzweigten Alkyl- und/oder Alkenylrest mit 8 bis 18 C-Atomen, R2, einen Alkylrest mit 8 bis 14 C-Atomen und; n, eine Zahl von 20 bis 40 bedeuten, werden als schaumarme und/oder schaumdämpfende Tensidkomponente in wäßrigen Spül- und Reinigungsmitteln - insbesondere Klarspülmitteln für die maschinelle Geschirreinigung in Haushalt und Gewerbe - mit insbesondere hoher Netzwirkung gegenüber festen Kunststoffen, verwendet. Beschrieben sind weiterhin Tensidgemische auf Basis der Verbindungen der allgemeinen Formel (I) in Abmischung mit weiteren nichtionischen Alkyl- bzw. Alkenyl-Polyethylenglykolethern der Formeln (II) bis (IV) - Komponenten B-1 bis B-3 <IMAGE> <IMAGE> sowie schaumarme Spül- und/oder Reinigungsmittel unter Verwendung dieser Tenside bzw. Tensidgemische und Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung.
