[origin: EP0343522A2] A device for automatic book binding of sole and limited editions consists of a receiving station, in which the data required for binding are prepared and stored, a book-block finishing station, in which the separation notching and gluing as well as trimming of the book-block are undertaken, a sleeve station, in which the binding cover is reinforced by a reco-sleeve, a cover finishing station, in which the covers are finished exactly in-register with the block based on the data supplied in the receiving station, a casing-in lane, in which the pitch of the book-block is set and the book-block is bonded to the binding cover, and a rounding station, in which the book-block is pressed into the binding cover and rounded using the pitch. The processing operations for the production of the book-block and the binding cover as well as the joining of the book-block and the binding cover are carried out under computer control. <IMAGE>
