[origin: EP0343753A2] The fire protection device principally comprises a rod (1) whose lower end is mounted pivotally about a pivot (5) provided in the container and whose upper end is intended to hold open the cover (3) of the container, a displaceable means (8) mounted on the inner wall of the cover (3) and intended to hold the upper end of the rod (1) and to hold the cover (3) in an open position, an element (16) mounted on the inner wall of the cover intended to push the displaceable means (8) on the rod (1), and a lead fuse (17) provided in the said element (16) and which melts in the event of great heat, whereafter the element (16) releases the displaceable means (8) and the rod (1) and the cover of the container slams shut. <IMAGE>
