As a heat accummulation means, the ends of sodium high-pressure discharge vessels exhibit a floating metallic coating which is either vapour-deposited in a vacuum or applied as a paste. Nickel, chromium or palladium are suitable as metals. The thickness of the coating is greater than the wavelength of the radiation emitted by the discharge vessel when the lamp is in operation and is within the range between 5 mu m and 100 mu m. Als Wärmestaumittel weisen die Enden von Natriumhochdruckentladungsgefäßen eine potentialfreie metallische Beschichtung auf, die entweder im Vakuum aufgedampft oder als Paste aufgetragen wird. Als Metalle sind Nickel, Chrom oder Palladium geeignet. Die Dicke der Beschichtung ist größer als die Wellenlänge der vom Entladungsgefäß bei Betrieb der Lampe emittierten Strahlung und liegt im Bereich zwischen 5 µm und 100 µm. Zur Dampfdruckerhöhung und für farbverbesserte Natriumhochdruckentladungslampen.
