[origin: US4943208A] The invention relates to a multi-stage lateral channel compressor, wherein the housings of the individual compressor stages consisting of individual housing shells are arranged axially, one behind the other, and are mechanically interconnected, wherein, in addition, a common driving shaft is provided for the impellers of the individual compressor stages, and a coolant is provided in the interspace which exists between the housings of the individual compressor stages. An intensive cooling is thereby achieved, in that the interspace is sealed both from the outside and also against the driving shaft, an inlet and an outlet orifice are each assigned to the interspace and a liquid coolant, which flows through the interspace, is supplied and evacuated by way of these orifices.

Die Erfindung betrifft einen mehrstufigen Seitenkanalverdichter, bei dem die aus einzelnen Gehäuseschalen (3, 4, 5) bestehenden Gehäuse der einzelnen Verdichterstufen axial hintereinander angeordnet und mechanisch miteinander verbunden sind, bei dem ferner für die Laufräder (21) der einzelnen Verdichterstufen eine gemeinsame Antriebswelle (20) und in dem zwischen den Gehäusen der einzelnen Verdichterstufen bestehenden Zwischenraum (6) eine Kühlung vorgesehen ist. Eine intensive Kühlung wird dadurch erreicht, daß der Zwischenraum (6) sowohl nach außen als auch gegenüber der Antriebswelle (20) abgedichtet ist, daß dem Zwischenraum (6) jeweils eine Einlaß- und eine Auslaßöffnung (12 und 13) zugeorndet und über diese Öffnungen (12, 13) eine den Zwischenraum (6) durchströmende Kühlflüssigkeit zu- und abgeführt ist.
