In a reciprocating piston internal-combustion engine with overhead camshafts in a 5-valve cylinder head, two inlet valves (4, 4') are arranged adjacent, at an acute angle ( alpha ), in one half of the combustion chamber, with their axes (7, 7') in a common plane (Ev) of a cylinder centre plane (EZM), while a third inlet valve (4"), offset transversely to the cylinder wall, opposite the two abovementioned inlet valves, is arranged in such a way that, with its axis (10), it intersects the common plane (Ev) of the two other inlet valves (4, 4') at an acute angle ( beta ) on the cylinder side. The third inlet valve (4") is driven by a separate camshaft (11). <IMAGE>

Bei einer Hubkolben-Brennkraftmaschine mit obenliegenden Steuerwellen in einem 5-Ventil-Zylinderkopf werden in einer Brennraumhälfte zwei Einlaßventile (4, 4') mit ihren Achsen (7, 7') in einer gemeinsamen Ebene (Ev) einer Zylindermittenebene (EZM) unter einem spitzen Winkel (α) benachbart angeordnet, während ein gegenüber den zwei vorgenannten Einlaßventilen zum Zylinderrand quer versetztes, drittes Einlaßventil (4'') so angeordnet ist, daß es mit seiner Achse (10) die gemeinsame Ebene (Ev) der beiden anderen Einlaßventile (4, 4') zylinderseitig unter einem spitzen Winkel (β) schneidet. Das dritte Einlaßventil (4'') ist von einer gesonderten Steuerwelle (11) angetrieben.
