Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0345420A1] The invention relates to a missile with a propulsive charge and base nozzle, in which, after firing from a large-calibre barrel weapon, hot propellant gases escape during the flight of the missile, a seal being provided in the base nozzle to ensure sealing against environmental influences during the storage of the missile. For sealing against dust and moisture, there are known plugged-in, pressed-in or screwed-in metal or plastic stoppers, these usually having the disadvantage that they have to be removed by hand before the missile is loaded. <??>The invention affords a sealing of the nozzle orifice 20 which offers reliable protection against environmental influences and which, when the missile is fired from the weapon, bursts open by means of the missile-accelerating propellant gases. This is achieved, according to the invention, by means of a sealing disc 26 which consists of rubber (or plastic) and which is vulcanised firmly into the orifice 20 of the base nozzle. <IMAGE>
