Abstract (en)

In a two-stroke double piston engine, a piston (2, 3) runs in each of two adjacent cylinders (1a, 1b), a common combustion chamber (15) being formed. <??>In order to ensure that such an engine gives low exhaust emissions in combination with low consumption, a lean mixture is burnt, the complete combustion of which is made possible by the fact that a rotation of the fuel/air mixture or ignited mixture is produced in the common combustion chamber (15), with the result that this mixture burns rapidly and thoroughly. In addition, the two-stroke double piston engine can be designed for stratified charging, excellent separation between the lean component and the rich component of the mixture being effected by the centrally arranged partition wall (24) in the double cylinder (1). <IMAGE>

Abstract (de)

Bei einem Zweitakt-Doppelkolbenmotor läuft je ein Kolben (2, 3) in zwei nebeneinander liegenden Zylindern (1a, 1b), wobei eine gemeinsame Brennkammer (15) gebildet wird. Damit ein solcher Motor niedrige Abgasemissionen bei geringem Verbrauch gewährleistet, wird ein Magergemisch verbrannt, dessen vollständige Verbrennung dadurch ermöglicht wird, daß in der gemeinsamen Brennkammer (15) eine Rotation des Brennstoff-Luftgemisches bzw. des gezündeten Gemisches erzeugt wird, so daß dieses Gemisch schnell durchbrennt. Zusätzlich kann der Zweitakt-Doppelkolbenmotor mit Schichtladung ausgeführt werden, wobei eine ausgezeichnete Trennung zwischen dem mageren und dem fetten Gemischanteil durch die mittig angeordnete Trennwand (24) im Doppelzylinder (1) erfolgt.
