[origin: EP0345468A1] The label dispenser (10) comprises a stock container (13) for labels (11). A pull-off roller (15) is in contact with the labels (11) and, together with a gear pinion (17) and a free-running bearing (19) is mounted on the stock container (13). The pinion (17) meshes with a fixed toothed rack (23). <??>As soon as the stock container (13) is pressed downwards by finger pressure on the actuating plate (29), the gear pinion (17) rotates the pull-off roller (15) so that the outermost label is pushed out of the stock container (13) in a downward direction. It can now be seized by the transport roller pair and removed. <??>As soon as the finger pressure ceases, a helical spring (37) pushes the stock container (13) back into the starting position. In this operation, a hollow cylinder (33) interacts with an air valve (39) so as to reduce the speed, while the free-running bearing (19) freewheels. <IMAGE>
