[origin: EP0345673A1] A device for regulating the tractive force of a winch (10; 41), in particular a heavy-duty winch (10) having defined rope run-off, has for accurate and reliable control of the tractive force a regulator which is connected to a controllable winch drive (25, 26) and has a sensor arrangement (19, 20) for determining the tractive force of the rope while allowing for load-application conditions. The sensor arrangement consists of at least one sensor in the tractive-load stress range which is preferably designed as a load-measuring pin (19). For winches (41) having positive changing (42) of the rope (57), the sensor arrangement has a second sensor (58) for sensing the rope entry position and a third sensor for sensing the wound-up rope layers. <IMAGE>
