[origin: EP0346561A1] The plinth insert (1) of an otherwise elevated piece of furniture has a panel (8) which is essentially continuous over the width of the furniture and which is set back - from below - over the larger part of its height and the larger central part of its width behind the plane of its front side, so that a gripping opening is formed above this set-back part and, to the side of said gripping opening, the full space is available for accommodating fittings (for example rollers (16)) for the insert. <IMAGE>
