[origin: US4918954A] A locking mechanism for data processing equipment includes a spring with a catch nose which is biased towards a locking position where it engages behind a shoulder and is lifted into an unlocking position against spring power either by a pivoted lever of a key-operated lock or, independently therefrom, by movement of one of the parts to be locked. An electrical locking and unlocking also occurs as the lever is moved into an unlocking position where it engages and operates a microswitch.
