A chair has a seat support (4), the rear seat support part (13) of which is linked to the front seat support part (12) by means of a swivel axis (20). An energy accumulator is linked between the front and the rear seat support parts (12, 13). A seat plate (23) is supported on the two seat support parts (12, 13). Mounted on the rear seat support part (13) by means of a rigid backrest support is a backrest plate (40). Both are provided with a cushion (46). In order to produce by simple means a continuous seat shell which is inherently deformable, the backrest support is constructed by a yoke (36) having two arms (39) extending parallel to each other and projecting upwards, on which arms the backrest plate (40) is mounted. Ein Stuhl weist einen Sitzträger (4) auf, dessen hinterer Sitzträgerteil (13) mittels einer Schwenkachse (2o) am vorderen Sitzträgerteil (12) angelenkt ist. Zwischen dem vorderen und dem hinteren Sitzträgerteil (12,13) ist ein Kraftspeicher angelenkt. Auf den beiden Sitzträgerteilen (12,13) ist eine Sitzplatte (23) abgestützt. Am hinteren Sitzträgerteil (13) ist mittels eines starren Rückenlehnenträgers eine Rückenlehnenplatte (4o) angebracht. Beide sind mit einer Polsterauflage (46) versehen. Um mit einfachen Mitteln eine durchgehende Sitzschale zu erzeugen, die in sich verformbar ist, ist der Rückenlehnenträger durch einen Bügel (36) mit zwei parallel zueinander verlaufenden, nach oben ragenden Armen (39) ausgebildet, an denen die Rückenlehnenplatte (4o) angebracht ist. Weiterhin sind die Rückenlehnenplatte (4o) und die Sitzplatte (5) und eine zwischen beiden befindliche, seitlich im wesentlichen durch die Arme (39) begrenzte Öffnung (47) durch eine durchgehende Polsterauflage (46) und einen durchgehenden Polsterbezug (49) abgedeckt.
