Abstract (en)
Monitoring of the process of birth in animals, particularly in the case of dogs, has hitherto been carried out exclusively by observation of the animal giving birth. Since complications may arise during the birth, virtually constant monitoring has been necessary, detaining the monitoring individual at the place of birth with the disadvantages consequent upon this. The method according to the invention envisages that the waters released during birth produce an abrupt increase in atmospheric humidity and, immediately thereafter, an acoustic and/or optical signal is triggered. As a result, the breeder or the individual monitoring the birth is no longer tied to the place of birth, since the start of birth is announced to him at any time by the giving of the signal. A device for carrying out the method envisages that within a dog shed (11) or the like, preferably in the region of the ceiling, a humidity sensor (12) is provided which is connected to an electrically actuable analyser (13) which registers sudden changes in atmospheric humidity. This in turn is connected by pulse emission to a signal emitter (20, 21) provided outside the dog shed (11). <IMAGE>

Eine Überwachung des Geburtsvorganges bei Tieren insbesondere bei Hunden, erfolgt bislang ausschließlich durch Beobachtung des gebährenden Tieres. Da es zu Geburtskomplikationen kommen kann, war praktisch eine ständige Überwachung erforderlich, die die überwachende Person an den Geburtsort mit den daraus resultierenden Nachteilen gefesselt hielt. Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren sieht vor, daß die sich durch das bei der Geburt freiwerdende Fruchtwasser schlagartig erhöhende Luftfeuchtigkeit ermittelt und unmittelbar danach ein akustisches und/oder optisches Signal ausgelöst wird. Dadurch ist der Züchter bzw. die die Geburt überwachende Person nicht mehr an den Geburtsort gebunden, da ihm durch die Signalgebung jeder Zeit der Beginn der Geburt gemeldet wird. Eine Vorrichtung zur Durchführung des Verfahrens sieht vor, daß innerhalb einer Hundehütte (11) od. dgl., vorzugsweise im Deckenbereich, ein Feuchtefühler (12) angeordnet ist, der mit einem plötzliche Luftfeuchtigkeitsveränderungen registrierenden elektrisch betätigbaren Auswertgerät (13) verbunden ist. Dieses ist dabei impulsgebend mit einem außerhalb der Hundehütte (11) vorgesehenen Signalgeber (20,21) verbunden.
