Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0350345A1] Method of continuous casting thin metallic products such as sheets or strips, according to which the molten metal is brought into contact with the cooled wall of a main roll (1) driven in rotation, the liquid metal (7) additionally being contained by a roller (3) of smaller diameter than that of the roll, which is driven in rotation and maintained at a distance from the wall of the main roll with a value substantially equal to the thickness of the cast product (10). <??>The roller (3) is driven in rotation at a greater peripheral speed than that of the roll (1). <??>The installation for carrying out the method comprises means (4, 5) for driving in rotation the roller (3) at a speed which is adjustable independently of the speed of the main roll. <IMAGE>
