[origin: EP0350563A2] For monitoring the press loads of the upper and lower punches, which work in pairs, in a tablet press, with which a mean value formed from successive measuring results is compared with two adjustable tolerance limits (G), the mean value (A) is assigned two adjustable individual value limits (B, C) in the case of known methods, by means of which limits the maxima of the individual values of the press loads are compared. However, such an apparatus and this method cannot be used satisfactorily for recognising certain causes of operational disturbances in good time, since, for example, slight damage to an individual punch does not substantially alter the mean value. In addition, the tolerance range must be chosen to be comparatively wide in order to prevent a frequent standstill of the tablet press without particular operational disturbances being present. In order to remedy this, it is provided according to the invention to assign the individual pairs of punches (1,2,3) so-called punch-pair mean value limits (Su, So) by means of which the particular punch-pair mean value (S) is compared, preferably via a connected computer. <IMAGE>
