Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0350574A1] The invention relates to a process and to a machine for producing a seam for making a textile web endless, which not only mechanises and automates time-consuming manual work but also accomplishes the latter in a manner which ensures troublefree automatic manufacture. According to the invention, this is achieved when the warp thread ends are strung up by machine in a magazining collar (13, 13') after removal of the fringes of the right-and left-hand fabric sides, are separated off individually according to the weaving order and alternately taken back around a central wire (16) of any desired cross-sectional area arranged in the centre of the auxiliary warp strip (15, 15') and consisting of at least one wire, and woven so that the central wire (16) is looped, corresponding to the progress of work, alternately by a warp thread end from the right-hand and left-hand fabric sides, while the respective opposite warp thread is woven back without looping the central wire, the warp thread ends being beaten up parallel to the weaving edge after introduction into the open shed corresponding to the weaving order. In place of a central wire, two parallel, not mutually joined wire coils can also be used which hold the right-hand and left-hand fabric ends in such a way that lateral sliding or shifting is prevented. <IMAGE>
