According to the invention, this device is characterised in that it comprises a rotary switch (36), able to close three electromechanical interrupters, the first two (15) and (16) of which, mounted in parallel, effect, after a given initial rotation of the switch, the closing of the circuit simultaneously on one and the other of the two terminals (11) and (12) of the network (1) for supplying the load (2) and a resistance selector (24) coupled to the spindle of the switch and intended to produce an adjustable a.c. voltage, delivered to the gate of a triac assembly (32) forming an electronic interrupter (4), in series with the load and ensuring the closing of the circuit with a phase shift which can be adjusted according to the value of the voltage, the switch (36) closing, after a complementary rotation and at the end of its travel, the third, up till then open, interrupter (35), this third interrupter shunting on the closing of the triac assembly.
