Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0352223A1] The weft insertion device contains a flexible insertion band (10) which can be fastened to a band wheel so that it can be wound on and unwound and which is produced from a plastic reinforced by a plurality of skein-like and/or bunch-like fibre groups (25). The fibre groups (25) are arranged in an inlay (27) which passes through the insertion band (10) over the entire length and which is surrounded by a layer of the plastic of the insertion band (10) free of the fibres of the fibre groups (25). The insertion band (10) is formed from a profiled part produced by a continuous manufacturing process, for example by pultrusion, and, in a end portion (B) remaining outside the winding region of the band wheel, is designed with a web-like elevation (10b). This is formed by a residual portion of a web-like section (10d') of the profiled part, which originally extended over the entire length of the insertion band (10) and which, in the length portion (A) of the insertion band (10) which can be wound on to the band wheel, has been removed, with the exception of a flange-like basic section (10c) of this. An easily producible low-mass insertion band (10) is obtained in this way, and in particular fibres of the fibre groups (25) are prevented from being exposed over a long period of operation. <IMAGE>
